Welcome to the very first issue of our Newsletter. The idea is to try and keep things brief but (hopefully!) interesting. 2008 proved to be a ‘challenging’ year for us but was also marked by a number of successes. We opened our new office in Leeds with our resident adjuster, Sarah Howard and our bespoke laims management system ConnectUWeb has already proved to be a winner – please contact me if you would like a demonstration of the system which we believe is industry leading.
2009 will see significant changes in the company. At the beginning of March our National Service Centre will be fully operational in Maidstone. The National Service Centre will serve all our adjusters now spread across the UK at strategic locations and we are convinced that the new arrangement will improve still further our quality control and overall service to clients. We will be introducing a range of new services this year to complement existing arrangements – please do not hesitate to contact me for more information. In the meantime I wish a healthy and happy New Year to all. Keith Curling, Managing Director (01622 766100) (

Carmichaels is proud to be supporting The Gills with our promotional board proudly displayed at Priestfield. We are looking forward to developing this partnership through the forthcoming seasons as The Gills take the steep climb to League One AND BEYOND!!
“All In A Day’s Work” Graham Eades, Director, will never forget 2008 with the handling of Mrs G’s claim in Brighton. It comes to something when the Adjuster has to spend as much time attending to the needs of the client’s pet poodle as the client herself. Furthermore, Graham was charged with the responsibility to ensure that following completion of the building programme, the client’s books were returned to the shelves “in the same order as they were before the loss”. “All in a day’s work” ………. says Graham

At the end of October 2008, our Major Loss Team, headed by Richard Coles, Director, received instructions following a £2m commercial fire involving a quench furnace (see photo) in the West Midlands. We are appointed with regard to all material damage and consequential loss aspects.
We are pleased to be able to announce that, once again, this Christmas we were able to give a donation to Demelza House instead of sending Christmas cards. Congratulations to Dawn Dalby, Senior Claims Adjuster who organised a separate staff charity donation to the Heart of Kent Hospice. We have also supported the Macmillan Cancer Trust “Coffee Day”.
To all equestrian insurers: We need your work! By some strange quirk of fate we seem to have numerous horse owners (i.e. fanatics), in the office ready and willing to deal with your claims!
Our Website – www.carmichaels.com is “due for a service” and will be visiting the web-garage in the near future. Please let us know if you have any requests for useful information or links
